Llaila (la-ee-la) Afrika is a holistic health practitioner. He has been in the health profession for over 40 years. His background includes working as a social worker, psychotherapist, group facilitator, community organizer, nurse, and naturopath. Llaila has a Doctorate in Naturopathy diploma and is a Certified Addictionologist, Certified Acupuncturist, Massage Therapist, and a licensed Traditional Healer in Ghana, Togo, and Benin. He is essentially self-taught in holistic sciences. Llaila is an author, teacher, lecturer, practitioner, and historian. Llaila lectures and teaches certification classes with his wife Dr. Melanie Stevenson. The classes are of wide variety such as Holistic Nutritional Counselor, Anatomy and Physiology, Massage, Needle-less Acupuncture, Ethical Midwifery, Hypnosis, Holistic Nutrition, Holistic Sex and Relationship, Holistic Skin Care and Analysis, and Touch Diagnosis. THIS IS A GREAT MASTERPIECE!

I finally read through the entire book, and I've been waiting for something like this to come out in the health market for holistic self diagnosing. Dr Afrika has some excellent charts that displays awesome methods to detect diseases. I've already been able to diagnose my weak kidneys through the tongue, urine, and feet diagrams. I easily detected diabetes in my friend through understanding the multistick-10sg interpretations.

This book really helps unveil the signs of the body, and how it relates to disease, wellness, and behavior. Even some of these charts I've seen in some of his lectures, and Im finally happy to have them in one concise book with explanations. Thanks Dr Afrika for placing this information out here.

This book is long overdue. FINALLY, a Naturopath Doc, in his vast wisdom and extensive trying has made a comprehensive self-diagnosis manual. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I find that the information is dead on accurate for what I am seeing/experiencing in my body and what the specific problem is. I am beyond impressed!! What's more, the diagnosis and subsequent treatments are easy to understand and follow!! ENCORE! BRAVO, Dr. Llaila Africa!!! You've made a fan out of me!

After reviewing several of the chapters, this book will be used as my reference guide. Being able to perform self diagnosis will keep my health on track for some very productive years. Dr. Africa's material is timely and not hard to follow.

MARK METTER
born 1972, Dipl.-Ing (University of Applied Sciences, Degree in Electrical Engineering), has been at Siemens AG since 1999 and is responsible for the development of customer-specific IT and network solutions, system tests and ITlution products. As a consultant, he passes on his knowledge of IT solutions, Ethernet, IT Security and WAN networking, software development and application consulting to others in workshops.

Really nice work, contents don't mesh with the title

There are very few books available on Profinet, outside of the standards groups. I have lots of experience with industrial networking, sw & h/w development and other prerequisites to appreciating this topic. Thus, I thought those things, combined with this book, would hopefully provide enough information get a good start on understanding current devices, and then ultimately providing a good base on which to develop a compatible device. As a bonus, I thought that I might learn about a wider array of other profinet-compatible devices.

Unfortunately for me, the coverage was at once too broad and too focused. For instance, the book provides information on high-level topics in networking, ethernet, I/O and so forth, but without a lot of detail. This overview may be helpful to some readers, but seemed to me to be review for those in deep enough to be tackling this sort of work.

At the same time, Siemens specific topics - primarily programming - are covered in extreme depth. If that's what you're after, this might be just what the doctor ordered.

Bottom line for me: I know that "Siemens" is clearly printed on the cover, so I expected a bias. Where it runs off the rails is the PROFINET portion of the title. I feel it was disingenuous to make that big and bold, when so little of the book - hardly any - describes the protocol itself. This is a technical book, covering a specific topic, and I expect that to be addressed directly, before diving into ancillary topic, however useful they may be.

The book is beautifully typeset, and effective images are used throughout. It appears to be well edited too. It's very readable - great. Again, in my view, the only serious issue is the contents are not what the cover and description claims them to be. For that reason, I just have to give 4 stars instead of 5.

a refreshing and reassuring read

What a refreshing change to read a parenting book that's based on research rather than just someone's opinion (who claims to have all the answers because they've either had lots of children or worked with children!).

This was a very reassuring read for me as it gave justification for a lot of the decisions I have already made with respect to my two children (aged 9months and 3years) on everything from getting them to sleep, to returning to work. I would recommend it to any new parents. You meet so many opinionated people along the way whilst raising children and are constantly being given completely conflicting information. As an example, I was told that you should never leave a child to cry as they can end up at higher risk of suffering from depression and suicide in adulthood, but also, if you never leave them to cry they never learn to settle themselves and end up with chronic sleep problems which can them lead to....higher risk of suicide and depression in adulthood??!

There is more often than not, no one right answer when it comes to parenting decisions, and what sets this book apart is that it doesn't give a set of answers. Various strategies are discussed, and an examination of the current research is used in an attempt to identify the better strategies.

This is an easy book to recommend.

I'm probably not the ideal person to comment on this book since I don't have children of my own, but it's so well written that I wanted to add my two cents of support for the author. This is an easy to read guide to make sense of parenthood. There is a good bit of research provided as supporting documentation, but there is also provides plenty of tangible advice, and easy to follow examples throughout the book. I think it's also good to know that you don't have to follow the precise flow of the book to gain the full benefits. If there is a particular area of concern, for example potty training or sibling rivalry, the format of the book makes it easy to find helpful answers. This is an easy book to recommend.

have only read 2 chapters so far, but very interesting

Will update later on when I've delved more into this book. The author offers many helpful ideas, gives examples backed by research etc. So far I like it and have implemented a couple of her suggestions that have actually worked one of which is, letting my daughter "lead" in playtime as I follow along instead of telling her what to play with next. She really enjoyed when I imitated her ^_^
