Donald Trump didn't write one word in this book - except the stupid introduction you can safely skip over.

This book is a collection of amazing business stories and advice. I love this book and have bought several copies over the years for friends.

A word of warning - the pithy little summaries on each story were clearly written by somebody else than the business leader who submitted the story. Get a sharpie and cover them them up. They are inaccurate and don't reflect the depth many of the stories possess.

Great present for your best sexist friend!

Trump's book is triumph to sexist and male-manipulated societies! Men like Trump are great examples for that, but women can definitely combat this phenomena and control in such harsh chauvinistic societies, where sexism and misogyny are still commonplace. As wonderfully put by a fascinating book I've recently read Beasts of Prey: The Hard Truth about Men, where it is shown how women could not even control their own body, not to mention relationships, marriages, divorces, birth control, family issues, business and careers... Political careers were farfetched then! Beasts of Prey" also reveals all the secrets about such misogynistic males, whose hunger to combat and conquer overpowers their reasoning and moral values. Such men don't easily give up, but must be certainly contained!

Such males abuse their powers and cheat on women, trick, and manipulate them to gain their control in society and culture, and it is not just sexual control. Such men have not progressed anywhere from the miserable situation discussed by The Second Sex.

Some men, like Trump Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again, still believe that stereotyping women (like what he did with Megyn Kelly when he mentioned her menstruation in an interview) and denigrating them (like what he did with Hillary Clinton when he compared her with a barking dog in his ads) is the right way to go!

Honestly, I feel so sorry for Megyn Kelly who was probably "forced" by Murdoch & O'reilly Killing Lincoln/Killing Kennedy and co., (the No Spit Zone on Fox) to reconcile with this outrageous male. It was such a denigration to even talk to him in a full program dedicated to their "reconciliation" on Fox. One could see in his eyes how he still hates her, and her flattering attitude in this fake attempt to resolve their disagreement was absolutely pathetic!

Just because such moguls, manipulators, and patriarchal representatives of capitalist society have money and power in their hands, they strike hard to stop those beautiful, intelligent and influential women from gaining control on the same resources in society they assume to be their own!

The first book I read of Sala's was Second Chances. I kept reading her books and have never been disappointed This is another If you get a chance to read Second Chance do so. You will not put it down till you are through. You can feel the emotion of the characters. Loved it. Sharon Sala is one of a kind ands she is a truly gifted writer. Nobody does it like her.

Quick and enjoyable

The plot wasn't anything unusual, completely predictable it remained one-dimensional and without depth. The only twist was the heroine's friend, who saved the hero/ine when they were on the run. Needless to say that this turn was so blunt that I laughed out when I read it! There weren't any background descriptions and only one elementary subcharacter.

The main characters served all the classical stereotypes of the genre, although the heroine was displayed as a very strong and dedicated to her career woman. The relationship between the hero/ine didn't need any time to develop - they just fell for each other very quickly.

Despite all the above, this was a enjoyable read. I don't know, maybe the dialogues between the hero/ine saved the book. In any case, this was an agreeable read.

Comprehensive Review of Adolescence

We used this text in my social work school in 1995. Since then I have given away my copy and I'm sorry I did. The book begins with Freud and covers the works of Peter Blos, Carol Gilligan and Erik Erikson.
If you don't have the time to look into the source texts then this is a good book for you. This book gives a broad overview of adolescence and in the cases of Freud and Erikson, an in-depth treatment on the various pre-adolescent stages. Most illuminating for me was the chapter on one of America's greatest contributions to this field, Harry Stack Sullivan. His chapter on Erikson is also quite good. But, if you have the time, read some of the source books. I recommend Erikson's CHILDHOOD AND SOCIETY, IDENTITY: YOUTH AND CRISIS; Gilligan's IN A DIFFERENT VOICE, and Sullivan's THE INTERPERSONAL THEORY OF PSYCHIATRY.

It's a little wordy and tends to complicate things and not explaining them in the simplest terms. But it's got some good information and I've enjoyed it more than some of my other textbooks.

The final word in automobile history reference works

The Beaulieu Encyclopedia is easily the single most comprehensive reference work I've found on car history. Any marque that is at all well-known is covered by a substantial entry in these books, and beyond this there are countless entries on other brands as well -- from the uncommon to the most fantastically obscure. If I have any complaint, it's that the books themselves are quite large and this amount of material could have certainly been bound as a four-volume set.

Note that there are separate Amazon listings for the two-volume and three-volume Beaulieu set. My understanding is that the three-volume set is a later edition, so that's probably the one you want. Not all used booksellers in the Amazon Marketplace are careful to list their set on the right product page, so it's important to pay attention to this to be sure you're getting what you want. Beyond this, there is also a special "Coachbuilding" Beaulieu volume to supplement the main encyclopedia. This is sold separately.

Reading about procrastination is also procrastination, so get this book and stop searching for the ultimate answer.

I'm a chronic procrastinator on a journey to become a more productive and efficient person. In the last couple of months I've read a number of books on procrastination and this is the best so far. This is a concise book that offers practical advice on how to break our nasty procrastination habits (habits is the key word here). What I found particularly useful about this book, is that it also explains the cognitive and behavioural biases that underlie procrastination. This is particularly important to me, since I just can't do something if I don't understand the rational behind it.
Okay, I should stop procrastinating and get back to work now.

I always tried to read a book on this topic. But they are always too long, so it is really easy to procrastinate reading them. But this book is very different. Very concise, very to the point, and gets to the root of the problem as quickly as possible. You can learn a lot in a very short time from this book. Recommend it to anyone who has problem with procrastination.

Good in small doses

I'm a grad student reading this for a class on 'heritage tourism.' I've enjoyed the flow of his sentences and the interesting images, but I agree with Kenneth (an earlier reviewer): when a hundred-page chapter can be summarized in one page, I've tended to skim quite a bit.

In our class we've read chapters 1,2,5, and 6, and that's made the book a lot more manageable! These chapters have focused on how modern people use the past for present needs, the issues that come with too much focus on the past, and just how we can know 'the past' (through collective history, individual memory, and tangible relics). Chapter 6 is one of the most interesting, as it emphasizes how we change the past (understood as a mental object we've created) through using it and twisting it to serve our purposes.

If you're running short on time, his table of contents and chapter headings are fairly extensive, so it's possible to get a good sense of the book by looking at it's skeleton. Plus, do make time to read at least ten pages or so to get a feel for his writing! If you're a literature sort of person, it's enjoyable and fluid in small doses. :-D

The Past is our Remembrance and Imagination of it

This is an ambitious effort. It is a comprehensive effort to understand how Humanity relates to, and makes use of the Past. And a central focus is that Past which is in cultural monuments and great creations.

I admit that reading this book I felt overwhelmed and confused by the multiplicity of categories and uses, by the variety of learning and connections. I seemed to lose my inner checkposts, my way of measuring whether what was being said was true to my experience, or not.

And here I felt the strong distinction between the 'public memory' which as I understand it is by and large the subject of the work, and the kind of private individual memory through which we interpret and give meaning to our own lives.

Decent vocabulary

This thematic vocabulary is an excellent way to learn the Russian language. There is another thematic vocabulary published by Hueber, a German publisher, called "Grundwortschatz Russisch", which can be purchased at Amazon.de. I recommend the German title as well because it is up-to-date. The person reviewing the book above states there is a lack of vocabulary relating to military and government. I think the author of "Using Russian Vocabulary" provided as much material as possible considering he was sick and has possibly passed away. However, if you need military vocabulary, try the Six Language Visual Dictionary by Perun, an Ukrainian publisher. The languages are Ukrainian, English, German, French, Spanish, and Russian. This can possibly be purchased as [...] per ISBN 978-966-569-249-2. But beware, there are other visual dictionaries the publisher publishes, and they do not contain Russian or Ukrainian. The Firefly Five Language Visual Dictionary, which contains the same exact visual pictures, only contains English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

Absolutely by far the best vocabulary book I know!

This book is absolutely WONDERFUL for learning new vocabulary! not only does it include detailed lists of vocabulary on many useful topics, it contains a wealth of information on the origins of many words which makes retaining the vocabulary much easier and more interesting. If you haven't purchased this book yet, just do it! Don't even think twice, just get it and you won't regret it!

Very useful but deficient in some areas

This book is very useful for expanding your Russian vocabulary, particularly for words that are necessary for daily life but aren't often taught in standard language-learning textbooks. In many areas it is quite comprehensive. However, there are at least two areas where it is deficient: government and the military. Perhaps this is in part an ideological choice on the part of the authors. But, like it or not, students of any language need to be equipped with the vocabulary for these areas of human activity, and this book falls short in not providing it. It's a shame because the book is very comprehensive in so many other areas.
