This book is something that will touch your heart, and your lives forever. In reading this book I instantly felt as though this was MY FAMILY,that was involved. I woke up worrying about each and every individual involved in this book. It is written in so much detail, and in such depth, that you can feel the heartbreak, the pain,the stress, the victories, the downfalls,and every other emotion that is expressed in this book. Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!!!

I did not know what to expect when i saw the photo of the car on the cover. I was not prepared for the raw pain this remarkable family went through, nor the honesty of their sharing with the reader,
It is a hard book to read, I had to pause and take a breath and remind myself that she survived and she survived with such a spirit intact that you know that she is someone special!
The strength of Gayle to endure the pain, fear,treatments,crisis of medicine and humanity is superhuman in my estimate! The support and endurance and stubborn refusal to give up of her partner Jess, to believe,be present, and champion the needs and cause of her beloved is inspiring.
There were times i cried at what they all suffered, and other times i almost stood up and cheered at each step Gayle made towards healing!
This is a must for caretakers, it has much valuable information. Any health care professional should be required to read it, as it contains much insight on how to see your patient as more than a broken human that needs to be fixed and sent away,,,
Anyone that owns a body should read this book, it will inspire you to be grateful for the miracle that your healthy body is!!! I am grateful to Gayle and Jess and family, for generously sharing with us the intimate, spiritual,frustrating, tedious, painful and brave journey they have taken with such grace and strength.I am in awe of them both. well written, clear, informative and real.It is an inspiring and meaningful book, relevant and informative,,, and I thank them for sharing ,,,,,

On the way to their soccer game, Gayle Andrews and her son were hit by a truck driven by a sleepy teen returning from an overnight party, and there went all their plans for the next several years. The story of Gayle's arduous journey of healing, her painful efforts to be present for her frightened son, also badly injuried in the accident, her years of surgeries and rehab, and the life-affirming support of her partner, family and friends will inspire you and linger in your heart. A great reminder of how lucky we are, and what a blessing the bonds of love and community can be.

Always desperate for how it was really done

Its in German. So learn a new language why don'cha? I bought it for the illustrations of the techniques used by German shipbuilders in the last days of sail. I am not disappointed. A copy of Paasche would be ever so handy to have a translation of a part. But as it is a digital reprint manufactured by the graciousness of a University you may be disappointed that the fold out pages of plans were not unfolded and frightened by the warning that pages may be upside down or missing. Nevertheless, if you lust after sailing ships its a not too expensive an edition and addition to you stash.

Another grand, dense volume in the series

The paperback edition of this volume was divided into two separate books -- likely due to the number of pages and the limited strength of the softcover binding. Like the other volumes in the series it is authoritative and requires concentration to read. I like the histories by Rahn (battle of the Atlantic), Wegner (Case Blue), Stumpf (North Africa), but especially the discussion of strategy interspersed throughout. The information on the war in Asia and the Pacific should have been omitted given very limited German involvement there and the existence of more authoritative histories. Worth the money. You cannot get better quality nor more first class information per dollar spent.

A little bit disappointing

I bought this book because it is about a very interesting subject of the 60s motor racing scene. It shows an attractive layout and contains lots of rare pictures not to be found elsewhere which makes the purchase worthwhile. But the information is a little bit disappointing. There is few more than a chronological description of the races which the Scuderia attended and the cars and the drivers. These facts you can find elsewhere. The book contains hardly background information which cannot be found in other sources. In addition there are more but a few errors about the facts. After all: My English isn't perfect but the author's isn't either.

As a whole considering the price a little bit disappointing and no more than 3 stars.

The Scuderia Filipinetti fantastic story happend in probably the best era of car racing...the sixties. The only ecurie to enter (sometimes in the same event)cars from the three big rivals, Ferrari, Ford and Porsche! Ed Heuvink take you with extreme details into the cars, the races and the drivers of that unique Swiss racing team. I was very lucky to be a mechanic at Le Mans in 1966, on the Scuderia Ford GT40. Those were magic years that I will never forget. Phil Henny

Just like the Dog version, this manual is very simple yet advanced, and helps you understand anything you want to know about cats. Whether you are picking a kitten out, your cat has health issues, your cat is pregnant, or if you just are curious about your kitty's diet, this book is the one for you.

Good, concise handbook

A handy, quick to read book on all aspects of cat ownership. While brief, it goes some medical issues that other cat books don't- which makes sense, since the author is a veterinarian. A glossary in the back helps the reader to understand the medical section better. There is also a large section devoted to the various breeds of cats that includes whether the breed is quiet or talky, friendly or aloof, active or sedate- information that can really help a person decide if the breed is for them or not. He also goes into cat genetics, which I enjoyed- I finally found out why it looks like my black cat has a white undercoat! (the hair is only black on the tips; the part closer to the body is white. It's caused by something called the inhibitor gene). My only quibble with the author is his section on homeopathy- he doesn't push it, but it's there with vaccinations. I know a lot of people use it, but personally I think it can risk the cat's life to use it instead of biological vaccinations or science based cures.

Clear, concise, well-written intro to Android programming!!

A wonderful little book for anyone who wants to get their feet wet with Android programming. Early on, the author warns the reader they need a basic understanding of Java to use his book with success. After a discussion of the origins and popularity of Android, the author explains the Android architecture, specifically the kernel, libraries, runtime and applications framework. After a discussion of basic android programming terms, he launches into the tutorials which have excellent screenshots. Although I have never programmed Android, (I'm fairly proficient in C++), I could easily follow his step-by-step instructions for creating a new app. Clear, concise and well-written, I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a basic understanding of Android programming.

I'm not a dev but a couurious person but this book makes me want to learn how to develop apps! Finally i understand the basics (for example what kernel, libraries, and runtime are and how to deal with app designing). A lot of pratical instructions based on Java and XML. I think this is a really good guide to start anche outsourced based projects. Recommended!

The story of Isabel, the lady warrior, and James Markham, Earl of Bolton, was so riveting that I couldn't put it down until I found out how these two people would solve their problems and fall in love. I didn't want this story to end. The sexual tension sizzled in this very sensual book. The author is incredibly skilled and talented as a story-teller. I just loved it and you will, too.

It's a must read for fans of famous boy vs. girl pairings like Hepburn & Tracy or Bruce Willis & Cybil Shepard in Moonlighting. Ms. Callen draws the reader into James and Isabel's world easily. The sparkling dialogue that was full of double entendre's and all out fun kept me entranced. The journey that James and Isabel take from being physically attracted enemies to deeply in love soul mates is very satisfying and will no doubt be considered a classic! What is most captivating is how Ms. Callen lets the reader truly "get into" her characters' heads. Behind the humorous humiliations, the serious competitions between boy and girl, are real emotions of heartache, failure and inadequacy. Isabel and James' triumph over their very human failings; they come to respect and cherish each other for who they truly are, not who they appear to be. This is a must read for any romance fan, not just medievals. I absolutely recommend it as a top-notch novel!

a good book but not as good as the first in the series

This is the second book in the series. The 1st book"The Darkest Knight" was much more tender and loving. I enjoyed the fact that in this book the bad brother from the first book has a chance to become the hero and mends the rift in his family. This is James's story. We first meet him as he is being attacted by the heroine in the story, Isabel, or Angel as he calls her. She is trying to finish the revenge her family has started against his family. She steals from him and leaves him bloody and bested by a woman only to show up again at his castle in his bedroom. She flees after a struggle with a very naked James. She is soon caught though and he has her thrown in his dungeon. He soon finds himself commanded by his King to marry her. He is stunned but more so she. She dresses like a man, has no idea how to act like a lady or even a civilized human being. He tries to get her to change but she is as stubborn as he. They fight the attraction they have for each other and only after a long struggle do they finally admit they care for one another. I will enjoy reading a book about James's sister hopefully in the near future.

Too Slow

I was not very pleased with the pace the book went. The author never really explained why her fiance wasn't giving her what she wanted.
There was just too many questions as to why he wouldn't go any further with Lana.
