About the Author
Tse Voon Chow Ting Chan is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, where he earned his Ph.D. in Microwave Heating. He received his B.Sc. in Electronics cum laude from the University of Natal (Durban). He is a member of the IEEE and the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE). Howard Charles Reader is Chair of High Frequency Electronics in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. Since 1986, he has been teaching and consulting in the fields of microwave dielectric heating, metrology, electromagnetics, antenna engineering, high frequency circuits, and electromagnetic compatibility. Dr. Reader received his Ph.D. in Time Domain Electromagnetics from St. John's College of Cambridge University, and his B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from King's College, London. He is also a member of the Professional Group on Electromagnetic Compatibility of the IEE.

Understanding Microwave Heating Cavities

It's a good source in microwave technology but I sincerely think on it as a good second title, just because it has not an inductive style, having no balanced focus on concepts and mathematics in microwave. If you are looking for a tool to understand how a microwave cavity works, heating materials inside, for example, as I did, I think is necessary more than a mathematical book, but a book who give us an approach supported by software routines and images generated by a visual simulator to describing and optimizing that cavities. As I can not find this dreamed book, I selected this one as a good book.

Just wow

The movie of 9 1/2 weeks was on TV (haven't seen the movie in decades) and I noticed the line "based on the book..." I looked up Elizabeth McNeill in the Kindle book dept and bought the book. The book is amazingly well written and incredible that it is something of an autobiography. It must have taken a lot of courage to relive her experiences while writing the pages. It's a great story of the lure a D/s relationship can have and the warning of what it can do to not only one's body but soul.
It's a quick read but I don't feel like I've been cheated. I can feel the author through her words and that is enough. Intense.

not a love story at all.

I like the memoir of the writer, Elizabeth McNeill. very unusual read. It is not a love story for those of you out there considering buying it . Its more of a sad story about a regular mid 30s woman living in NYC and a guy whom you think is kinda ok, but quickly it turns dark. I think the story is based on true events in her life that happened to her for a couple months of her life, but this strange relationship messed with her finally she had enough and ended it. My personal opinion is that it could easily happen to anyone looking for love, but ending up with the wrong person. Not a happy story at all. just want to be clear about that. thank you.

Interesting perspective,but boring

I was curious about this book as I've heard so much about it. The story was interesting, how this woman allowed this man to completely dominate her, and coming from her perspective. That is why I don't give it 1 star. But too, there was pages and pages that I skipped over, like about 10 pages of her searching through his closets and drawers. I don't see what is interesting about that. I won't ever pick up this book again, as a matter of fact, I threw it away. It wasn't what I expected. I am curious to see how the movie goes, though, and will most likely rent that. It was the author's way of talking too, where you didn't know who was saying what. I can't imagine going through this though, and was horrified by what he had her do. The scene where he has her dressing as a man would have been my limit. That grossed me out. Then the prostitute scene was too much. I'm in no way a prude, but the book bored me.

This book, the first of two volumes, explains the instrumentation and techniques needed to make successful observations in radio astronomy. With examples interspersed throughout and problems at the end of each chapter, it prepares students to contribute to a radio astronomy research team.

Requiring no prior knowledge of astronomy, the text begins with a review of pertinent astronomy basics. It then discusses radiation physics, the collection and detection of astronomical radio signals using radio telescopes, the functioning of various components of radio telescopes, and the processes involved in making successful radio observations. The book also provides a conceptual understanding of the fundamental principles of aperture synthesis and a more advanced undergraduate-level discussion of real-world interferometry observations.

A set of laboratory exercises is available for download on the book’s CRC Press web page. These labs use the Small Radio Telescope (SRT) and the Very Small Radio Telescope (VSRT) developed for educational use by MIT’s Haystack Observatory. About the Author

Jonathan M. Marr is a lecturer of physics and astronomy at Union College. His research involves high-resolution, radio-wavelength observations of radio galaxies and the Galactic center. He earned a PhD in astronomy from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ronald L. Snell is a professor of astronomy at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His research interests include the physical and chemical properties of molecular clouds, star formation, and molecular outflows; he also has extensive experience observing at radio wavelengths. He earned a PhD in astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin.

Stanley E. Kurtz is a professor of radio astronomy and astrophysics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His research interests include massive star formation, the interstellar medium, and radio astronomy instrumentation and techniques. He earned a PhD in physics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Simply the best book on the subject. I've read other books, but this one really gave me the knowledge, built step by step, to a solid understanding of what's going on with everything related to radio astronomy. Like I said, step by step, the concepts, figures, examples and other details get together in a concise way that creates a solid understanding. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in radio astronomy. I thank Mr. Marr for such a good book.
