focuses on the important words

Great for a beginner learning Hindi because it doesn't have ALL the words, just all the important words that you'll actually need to use! That way, it is a lot less overwhelming. Also, it has easy to follow and consistent transliteration to the english alphabet. The guide to pronunciation in the beginning has helped me a lot. My husband is from New Delhi, and says that some of the words are not the ones he knows, but that is to be expected since there are so many varying dialects in India! Nothing substitutes for a little guidance from a native speaker, but it's also very hard to learn from a native speaker without some concrete, organized, written guide such as this dictionary! Very useful, I carry it in my bag and learn new words every day on my commute.

Pretty good for a take-along book.

Ok, so it's not the Oxford Hindi. This book is an on-the-go book that you can take along. It seems to work well with the TEACH YOURSELF HINDI books by Rupert Snell. It serves the purpose for which we intended.

Edit: See the Glossaries Alive at the Hindi Urdu Flagship Program where Rupert Snell and native speakers actually pronounce many of the words in this dictionary. It is a free resource. It is referred to in this book and The Teach Yourself Hindi book.
Also provided for free download are worksheets that are quite beneficial.

When it comes to Hindi, I love anything by Rupert Snell. I've learned more from his books than a pile of books on Sanskrit, which uses the same alphabet. This dictionary is easy to use. It has transliterations of Hindi words. Whatever language you study, a dictionary is helpful.

Flawed early effort from a now-respectable author

Caged Wolf is too raunchy to be a romance, not sexy enough to be porn, and too disjointed to make any sense. The story features a heroine I genuinely disliked. For instance, this woman is hurt and angry that she doesn't GET TO work in a nearby brothel, so she ONLY gets to strip and pole dance for tips, which she willingly does even though it isn't her job (she was hired to tend bar). She admits she's been a prostitute and a drug addict and has slept with a thousand men, some of whom her ex pimped her out to. Why then are we supposed to care that more men want to exploit her, including her ex? You either think that kind of lifestyle is terrible or you don't. You either want to be a ho or you don't.

Add to that a bIzarre case of instantaneous lust/love (that's never explained beyond "you smell good"), a lot of smoldering looks, painfully stilted dialog, awful, arbitrary sex scenes and a lot of really strange choices by the main characters (such as both owners having to leave for days to get a generator fixed when they knew a dangerous and unpredictable biker gang was in town?), some stock werewolf info (wolves are territorial, wolves have a hierarchy, it hurts to shift forms) and it all adds up to a rather tedious unattractive, heaving mess of a story.

This author subsequently honed her skills and became a much, much better writer than this. I honestly can't recommend such a poorly thought out and executed book as this to any but the author's most die hard fans. And even then, you've been warned.

The book shows promise but wasn't a favorite of mine

Well, this was a very interesting book. The story was confusing at times and I wasn’t sure where the story was heading. There is also a lot of violence against men and women in the book that might make some readers uncomfortable with. I apologize in advance if this review sounds a little disjointed, the story left me feeling the same way.

During the book, Ofelia has scenes where she practices magic/witchcraft/spells and talks about learning them from her grandmother when she was little. The storyline is unclear about how Ofelia ended up in Lobo Norte and there is a mystery around what type of creature she is.

What’s also unclear is the mystery surrounding “The Devil” Tarot card Ofelia received in the mail and that’s somehow tied into a crossroads. She and Trouble solve the card but then decide to go on a search for the rest of the cards in the Tarot deck. I’m still unsure why they are doing this; it could be because there was a cryptic note written to Ofelia about looking forward to meeting her, but the story doesn’t connect the two at the end of the book. Many of the other scenes in the book felt awkward or out of place as well in the story.

The story shows great promise but there are a lot of plot points that aren’t connected or are simply absent from the story. I think if those were ironed out, it could be a solid paranormal read. But as it currently stands, while the story is enjoyable, it’s a difficult storyline to follow.

This read has little direction and lacks background for a new reader of this author's writing.

I've read all other books on the author's site and this was very disappointing after all those good reads. This book drags at first, the only reason I could keep up with some chapters was my previous readings from other story lines and previous characters. Without that I would have not finished the book. This book starts to couple characters, that in previous books would seem unlikely. It also includes abusive man/woman/animal sex that was not in any previous reads. I'm not sure where the author is going with these carnal/sexual characters but it definitely does not improve the characters likeability or character purpose in the book. I'm hoping this series will be redeemed with better writing as seen in other series instead of smut writing.

Help Others Give You What You Want

Getting what you need and/or want is not necessarily being greedy or selfish. It is reality and we all work towards pleasing ourselves. That often means we must please others to get what we need. Serving others, for example, is a way of getting what we want. It's a system that works well for all involved and Your Magic Powers of Persuasion is an excellent way to hone your persuasion skills!

I have researched a few other titles in the past, starting with one of the first ever decades ago called When I Say No I Feel Guilty, and I must say that a lot of progress has been made in this area since then and Your Magic Powers of Persuasion is ample evidence. And this isn't some pamphlet disguised as a "book" either, it's jam-packed and thick, full of great advice on knowing exactly how to persuade given difference circumstances you find yourself in. What I appreciated most is the chapter I need most and that is, "You Can Be Quickly Liked and Appreciated." I come off as gruff because I am a little shy so this gave me new techniques to try when being in new groups that will enable me to feel more at ease and get the rapport going better than I have been in the past.

A Real Screen Slider

I got this book on my kindle fire in hopes of unlocking my secret powers of persuasion (hence the title). Before I started reading, I was hoping for immediate results. Unfortunately, that was not the case. As I continued to read I realized that most of the methods in this book are self-train methods, and that's where the journey begins. It isn't action filled and isn't for those who don't like reading because it is fairly long. Remember when reading this book that the direct approach upon persuading an individual is almost never the way. While persuading someone remember SWAY which you will read about in chapter two. The chapters are fairly long and start to become boring. Be prepared for multiple pages of worksheets that get you ready for persuading for real. I evaluate this book as a well set, short textbook with activities and all. It makes you want to keep reading to see what happens, what you can learn. You, in turn for buying the book, are able to persuade and command who you please to do so. With only the will power and skill provided by this book, along with human nature and a humans want for being loved and needed. It is a very educational book and very eye opening. With so little good books in the world, this one could start a new generation of educational novels that the new children of the world needs. It ends very smoothly, but it does need to explain the persuading methods more entertainingly and clearly. It is a very interesting ebook for most ages.

Great examples, and overall good work.

Great that the author explains the difference between persuasion and manipulation; this helps many people feel more comfortable about persuading; no longer like they're taking advantage of someone else. The examples given are wonderful, and really explain exactly what the author meant.

Some of the information was a little off, or contradicted itself, or was hypocritical at times. Regardless of this, it is an overall very usefull and informative peice. I would definately recommend this.

An effective theoretical neuroscience must deliver an accurate, comprehensible and intuitively satisfying understanding of higher cognition in terms of anatomy, neuron physiology and neurochemistry. Massive simulations of assemblies of relatively realistic neurons do not necessarily contribute to understanding, because such simulations can be just one more complex system that is not understood in any satisfying way. Collection of extensive data on the connectivity of the brain may also contribute little to understanding in the absence of an effective theoretical framework.

Beginning in the 1980s, some extremely complex electronic systems have been created. Each such system required thousands of man years of design effort and utilises many billions of transistors. These systems are understood by human beings. Although there are minimal direct resemblances between such electronic systems and the brain, the techniques for achieving electronic system understanding can be adapted to create the framework for an effective neuroscience. This book describes how these techniques are applied to understanding the brain. From 1969 to 1999 the author worked on many aspects of the design and manufacturing of complex electronic systems. Since 1982, he has been active in the creation of a theoretical neuroscience framework.

The book covers the following areas:

-The nature of scientific understanding and ways to achieve it
-Key topics in psychology, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and neurochemistry
-Theoretical constraints on brain architecture and appearance of those constraints in the human brain
-How the architectural constraints make it possible to map between descriptions of brain activity on different levels of detail
-Understanding of attention, semantic and episodic memory, procedural and working memory in terms of anatomy, neuron physiology and neurochemistry
-Understanding of complex cognitive phenomena including speech, prospective memory, consciousness and self awareness.

Jumbled nonsense.

I was very excited about this book, but after finally getting the time to read it through (after the return period), I found that the pages are correctly organized only to page 220 (out of 443) before the pages are completely scrambled. For example: 219, 220, 256, 255, 228; and then 278, 186, 185, 115, 112, 111, 108, 107, 106, 105, 289-292, 66, 65, 295. I understand that this is a problem with the publisher, but I paid too much money for this product to be satisfied. This is nonsense. I sincerely hope that someone from Amazon contacts me about rectifying this situation.

A helpful four-part appendix includes a glossary, common formulae used in optical repair and machine operations, prefixes and symbols used in the metric system, and English and metric system units of measurement, with common equivalents and conversions.
Profusely illustrated with 370 charts, diagrams, photographs, and drawings of tools and parts of instruments — including cross-sections that reveal inner workings — this manual is especially clear and well-organized. Although designed for use in U.S. Naval training schools, it can be used to great advantage as a basic text in optics in standard technical schools, and it will be immensely valuable even to the layman who desires a knowledge of the fundamentals of optics.

Great Basic primer on optical instruments

Great simple explanation of light and basic optical instruments. Good for someone that wants to know how scopes work, not someone going for a Phd in physics.

The only reason I gave 4 stars is that book is written as a US Navy course, so there is much talk of the navy and naval instruments that many people will find no use for.

Answer did not surprise me

The question "Does The Human Being Have A Free Will?" has been on mind for several years. I am 57 years of age now. Every time I deeply reflected upon this question the answer was the same: apparently Yes but practically NO. The author in this book describes so well in words exactly my feelings (acquired through practical events of my life). In addition he shows that even in theory free will does not hold. I was able to relate to this book completely. This is an excellent book for everyone wanting to dive deeper into this question and find their answer.
